Boat Overview

Focsle Rose is a Sealion 42 displacement motor cruiser featuring a round bilge design with a directional keel. It is constructed with a steel hull and a teak superstructure. This vessel is well-travelled around the Mediterranean and is capable of navigating the French canals, which she has done multiple times.

The Sealion 42 was produced by Meakes of Marlow, a company established in 1886 as Meakes & Redknap, later known as J.G. Meakes Ltd. The company operated for nearly 100 years before redevelopment of the site. In 1964, the total price for a Sealion 42 was £15,000, which included luxury fittings.

Refit Details

Notes from vendor: Prior to our purchase in 2012, new engines were fitted in 2007. Focsle Rose underwent a full refit from 2013 to 2015 (invoices are available) which included:

  • Below and above waterline fully shot blasted and welded, including a new galvanised keel. 12 layers of epoxy below waterline and 5 on the hull sides.
  • New gunwale fitted.
  • Teak deck fitted on marine ply.
  • New shafts and couplings / new P brackets and cutlass bearings.
  • New bow sprite / Stanchions / Davits.
  • Vetus Bow thruster 160kgf / 24volt.
  • Victron inverter 3000w / 50 amp charge with Digital Multi Control panel.
  • New fuel tank and black tank.
  • Full re-wire.
  • New bilge pumps.
  • New 200 Litre calorifier / heated from both engines and shore power.
  • D5 Eberspacher with silent exhaust.
  • All sea-cocks and strainers new.
  • New exhausts.

  • Electric engine stop fitted on both helms.
  • New Garmin Chart plotter.

Interior Layout

From Deck - sliding door port and starboard providing access to the SALOON with steering helm on the port side, cupboards to port with storage, and an L-shaped settee to starboard with a large folding teak table.

Steps down to GALLEY on the port side featuring a 2-burner hob, combi microwave and oven, and fridge with storage cupboards. There is a large shelf and storage area on the starboard side.

Door to FORWARD CABIN with a double berth and storage underneath.

From the Saloon, steps lead to the AFT CABIN. To port is an electric flush toilet with sink; to starboard is a large SHOWER room with sink and electric towel rail. There are 2 single berths to port and starboard with hanging area and shelves.
